OLD WORLD CRAFTSMANSHIP -- NEW WORLD TECHNOLOGY
Personal Biography:
Born a woodsman, hunting enthusiast, and firearms lover, Jerry’s earliest aspiration was to work
in a related field. In 1973 he trained as a machinist toward his goal of becoming a gunsmith. For
the next 27 years as he worked as a machinist and part time gunsmith, he studied gunsmithing via
correspondence courses and read any book he could find on the subject. During this time he
worked at Kimber of Oregon and Kimber of America. In 1992 he got his Federal Firearms
Licence and turned his hobby into the beginning of a business. He added building custom
muzzleloader rifles to the custom bolt action rifles he had been building. He practiced his
avocation for his own benefit and the benefit of friends, family, and referred “clients”. In 2003 he
completed the two year gunsmithing program offered at Yavapai Community College in Prescot,
Arizona. Since that time Cook’s Gunsmithing Incorporated has become a growing full time
business of building custom firearms; tuning, repairing, and customizing guns; and selling new
guns.
